O- Week 2007, posted by ananda @ 23.2.07

A new beginning. University has come to a start and what other better way to start the new semester with o-week. O-week is the time where new students coming from all over the world meet up for the first time. The whole week consists of university tours, games, clubs recruiting new members and not to forget freebies which for me is the highlight of O-week.

MSO did great this year, we signed up more than 150 new members and a fair number old members got their membership renewed as well on the very first day.

This year, the committee was very enthusiastic with red their new shirts on, trying very hard signing up new members. Here we see our own treasurer, Kenneth and internal secretary Michelle running around under the hot afternoon sun giving away flyers and convincing students into joining MSO. I hope they have been using sun block !!! We don’t want them to be sun burnt on the very first day do we? HEHEHE

Getting back to the students, here we can see our president looking out for new members . Oh yeah, we can’t forget about Boon our VP can we. There he is sucking a lolly satisfying he sugar cravings …. Tsk tsk. .

For you new members out there, let me give you some light into MSO. MSO has only one objective and that is to bring a little bit of home to all of its members in Australia. We have a whole line of events this year which ranges from BBQ at Coogee, City tours, Parties and Malaysia Fest. Most of the events are subsidized by the club, which means it is FREE for all members.

In the end MSO had a wonderful O-Week, with many new members as well as old members going in the club and not to forget the committee who greeted everyone with a warm welcome while having a great time.
I believe its going to be a great year with our first events around the corner which is MSO BBQ. Oh yeah!! all you new members out there do attend the BBQ at Coogee Beach! It will be a great way to meet new friends and to have a chat with UNSW seniors. Not only you will get to chat with UNSW seniors but also you guys will get to have freshly BBQ-ed sausages under the beach sun.
